The WAA Board recently met again virtually to discuss the Governor's recent announcement on when recreational activities could possibly resume as we have been doing over the past two months. In the Governor's Restore IL Plan, organized baseball activities could potentially start at the earliest on June 26 in Phase 4. In addition, Phase 4 of the IL Restore Plan limits attendance at events to a maximum of 50 people, which makes scheduling a shortened season nearly impossible because of required transition time between games and limiting the number of games at complexes. Furthermore, as many of you have written us, there is much uncertainty and little guidance available at this time on how recreational leagues can effectively adhere to the required social distancing. We have taken all these factors into consideration as we have made our decisions.
As such, based on the above reasons, the WAA Board, with heavy hearts, has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 In-House Spring Season for the Instructional, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, Pony, Colt and Palomino levels.
As mentioned in our previous correspondence, all families will receive a 100% refund minus the fundraiser. We will immediately begin to process the refunds and those checks will be mailed out over the next few weeks.
With regards to raffle tickets, we plan to hold the annual raffle on Tuesday, July 7 at the regularly scheduled WAA Board meeting. Additional information on when and where the raffle will take place will be provided when decided. We will have 3 locations that tickets can be dropped off at. Also, tickets can be mailed to the WAA at P.O. Box 8181, Woodridge, IL 60517 or given to any of the WAA Board Members. The drop-off times will be between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. each Tuesday starting on Tuesday, May 26 though Tuesday, June 30.
We thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to getting back on the fields and providing baseball for our community.
